...RITES OF PASSAGE..
Lives were also influenced by the culture and class into which the child was born. For example, wealthier families would celebrate differently than poor families. A Muslim living in Turkey would have a very different life from a Muslim living in Arabia or Persia. And a woman would have a very different life from a man. Such are the influences of culture, class, and gender during the Middle Ages.
But yet Islam had a tremendous unifying effect across the whole of the Islamic World from India to Spain and beyond.
BIRTH.. A baby was usually born in the family's home with the help of a midwife (woman who helps deliver babies). In some cities there were hospitals that women could go.
Families usually preferred to have a male child. This is because the sons would stay with the family and take care of the parents. Daughters usually left home to move in with the husband's family. So the birth of a son, especially, was cause for a great celebration.
- CIRCUMCISION...
Muslim boys were circumcised between the ages 2-14 by special surgeons. The circumcision ceremony introduced the child to his religious society as a new member and was part of a transition to manhood.
Circumcisions were generally celebrated by the family and whole community. Boys got presents. There was a big feast in the village with musicians and entertainment.
[Note: Circumcision is not required nor mentioned in the Qur'an, but Muslims generally follow this tradition which Arabs and Jews followed, at least since the time of Abraham.
-BECOMING AN ADULT In most cultures, when children reached puberty they were treated like adults and were given adult responsibilities. Women could marry and many did at an early age. Men usually married a few years later. Both the young men and women (even at the ages of twelve or thirteen) would be expected to work. In fact, they may have been working much earlier! Boys were often trained in a job that their family members followed. For example, the son of a farmer would most likely be a farmer. The son of a merchant would be trained to become a merchant. Young men would be expected to join in combat if needed. There was no idea of "being a teenager" - a time of freedom from hard work and serious responsibilities, like there is today in the United States. If the child had learned the Qur'an (usually by the age of ten) and knew the rituals, they would be allowed to go to the mosque like their fathers and mothers.

...SWEET AND PAINFUL MEMORY..
At last, the day of the content arrived. I was seated in front with the rest of the contestants. Some of the contestants spoke and I thought that they were very good. However, I felt that I was better than all of them. When my turn came to speak, I wanted to stride confidently up the stage but my legs had turned rubbery and I could hardly walk. Somehow, I made my way up the stairs to the stage and stood in front of the microphone. “ A very good morning to the Chairman, my beloved Principal, teachers and fellow-pupils,” I began and that was as far as I got. My next words simply refused to come out. All the beautiful words which I had stored in my memory seemed to have evaporated. My limbs were also so stiffened by fear that I could not coax them to display any of the gestures which I had taken so much time and effort to perfect. I could feel the audience sympathizing with me but I did not want their sympathy. What I wanted was their admiration. By a tremendous effort of will, I managed to let out a sound but it turned out to be croak because of my tense throat muscles. The audience was no longer sympathetic and it roared with laughter. I was so humiliated that I ran down the stage and out of the school hall without looking back even once. When I was home again, the speech I had memorized came out effortlessly. If only I could have spoken like that at the venue of the competition!! Mt attempt to participate in the elocution contest was the most embarrassing and saddest moment of my life. I could not believe it!

3) Avant-garde, the French military and political term for the vanguard of an army or political movement, extended since the late 19th century to that body of artists and writers who are dedicated to the idea of art as experiment and revolt against tradition. SOMETHING I LEARNED ABOUT THE SECRETS OF HAPPINESS AT WORK...
Happiness at work is not the name of a fairy tale. It’s a reality for many employees, managers, and entrepreneurs — people just like you. You’ve probably heard that other employees can wear their pajamas to work and be rewarded with excellent pay, exotic job training, 5 star restaurants, a fun climbing wall, and other perks. Something that I have learned about the secrets of happiness from my father is to feed his needs. My father happy at work and he does his best work when he needs are met. Structure his work life, so he does more of the tasks that are the most meaningful and fulfilling to him. Identify and communicate his unmet needs in a win-win way. He will create a healthy coaching and constructive feedback system. Besides, other secret that my father keeps is stress is his strengths. He always identifies and emphasizes his strengths as well as spends far too much time trying to correct, rather than manage, his weaknesses. He joys on the job emerges when he uses his talents in ways that express his special abilities and benefit others. He comes to Earth fully prepared to make a special contribution that only he can make. In addition, he keeps developing a signature style. Since he is a gift to this planet, he identifies what’s unique about his personalities and talents. He also developing a signature style that ensures the clients, managers, and coworkers notice his skills and talents. They’ll lavishly reward him for his special contributions. Looks to my father’s secret, he has his own talents. He always shines by sharing his special skills and talents. For instance, volunteer to mentor someone who’s struggling with an activity that his already mastered. This will invariably boost his skills and knowledge. He will soon become even more aware of his professional passion and life purpose. Since happiness at work grows when his self-esteem rises, he will also enjoy more joy on the job. Moreover, whether he is an entrepreneur or he work for a company, he is the CEO of his Inner Firm. Be accountable to him by doing his best work. Just as an effective organizations do, and he makes sure the staff in his organization receive the best possible training. Watch his joy on the job surge with self-initiated education. Use the Internet, mentors, virtual networking, classes, and trade association meetings to create more happiness at work. I felt satisfied when I am looking my father working. From there, I have got more knowledge as well as information that I can keep in my mind. Hopefully, I can be like my father when have a good job in the future. I am really interested about my father’s secrets. Now, I must study hard to achieve my aims in the future.
MY EXPERIENCE WITH FLOW...
Actually, most of us have their own experience with flow. Perhaps, truly happy people experience it often. To understand the word flow, think about the river. It moves smoothly and easily down a mountain, trough a forest, to the ocean. The river flows toward the ocean. A person sometimes experience moments of flow in life. These are times when an activity goes very smoothly and brings greats happiness. However, flow does not last long. My experience begins when I was at primary school and now in campus life. I could remember when I am in standard one which is my teacher choose me to join with my senior to participate in dancing performance. I am so happy because I am the one in my class who was choosing to participate with them and actually I felt so weird why just me are choosing at that time??? Now, that is not the right time to think because I need to focus on my performance. At the first time, I am so stiff because I do not know how to dance nicely. When I dance, my friends always laugh at me. They said my dancing same like robot on cartoon' television, but I don’t give up and I will try my best because my teacher ever said that I have a talent to improve my skill in dancing. What I want to tell you about my experience with flow are it makes me have a great focus during I have done my practice. This is the one of characteristic with flow. I just think of what I have done. I need to do the best as I can. During weekend, I always practice at the school with my teacher until I can dance nicely. Although, I am not the one who can dance nicely, but I have a great practice and I am going to improve my skill. My teacher is the one who always give me supported and encourage during my practicing. She also increases my self-confident in the high rate. I am so thankful to her. I am always practice in front of mirror to ensure I can do the best during the performance. At the first time I performed in front of the audience, I felt so anxious and nervous, but I would tried my best and finally I successful pull through that distract my attention to perform. Then I can dance gracefully until I join Fansuri’ club in my university. That was my opportunity and chance to establish my skill in dancing. I am also felt very satisfied and glad because I able to perform well beyond my expectation. Now, I can teach my friend how to dance gracefully because my teacher said I can dance very well in front of the audience. That is not my expectation because before it I can dance with attention. I felt nervous even my friends want my expertise to teach them. I can not believe it! The great happiness appeared in the deep of my heart at the moment. Hopefully, I can dance nicely during the Grand Manifestos Festival on October that I was examined by my teacher in order to pass my co-curriculum’ examination…
